New employees

Kim Fang joined the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust full-time on Nov. 6 as a claims representative. He received an associate degree in arts from Metropolitan State University and is now working toward a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication, professional communication.

Joan Weisz joined the League of Minnesota Cities on Nov. 6 as as a legal administrative assistant in the Litigation Department. Weisz has legal experience in litigation, including workers’ compensation, which she gained while working as a temporary employee for the League.

Brian Paukert joined the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust on Oct. 16. He will work within the property unit handling property/casualty claims. Paukert has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. John’s University. Prior to joining LMCIT, he spent 21 years at Farmers Insurance serving as a property adjuster where he handled both residential and commercial claims.

Kendra Bengtson joined the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust’s Litigation Team as law clerk on Oct. 10.  Bengtson is a graduate of Hamline University where she received her bachelor’s in legal studies, criminology, and criminal justice and is in her third year of law school at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Her experience includes serving as a paralegal and student extern for the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, as law clerk for the Second Judicial District, and as an extern for the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Mitchell Skinner joined the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust’s Workers’ Compensation Claims Team on Oct. 9 as a claims representative. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining LMCIT, Skinner worked as a disability claim examiner for the past eight years.

Retirement and promotion

Human Resources Director Laura Kushner retired July 27.
